To have the best hair possible, you need to really understand what can damage it. Using the right products, and drying your hair carefully, can result in healthier, more manageable hair. Keep reading to learn the best tips to help you care for your hair.

If you are a frequent ponytail wearer, don’t place the ponytail on the same spot every time. Even soft, fabric hair scrunchies can cause hair breakage if they are placed in the same part of your hair day after day. If tying your hair back is a work requirement, avoid tying your hair back when you are not working.

If your hair looks like it’s pretty dry, you can use a homemade treatment on it. Once you have washed your hair and wrung out some of the wetness, apply your conditioner and then pop on a shower cap for a few minutes. This way, heat is generated and the conditioner is able to get further into your hair follicles.

Try to dry your hair without a hair dryer. Styling with heat can really damage your hair and leave it frizzy and unruly. Instead, towel dry hair whenever possible. This lets your hair naturally dry, and prevent too much frizz.

When you get out of the ocean, if you like your hair after you’ve gotten out of the water, there are plenty of products which mimic the effects of saltwater. Look for products that market themselves as a salt spray. Mix up eight ounces of water with a teaspoon of salt to make up your own mixture. You should then put in around 10 drops of essential lavendar oil, there it is, the ocean!

If your hair is dull and lifeless use a shampoo that is suited for ‘clarifying’. Dull hair can be caused by buildup of products over time. To remove buildup, try using the clarifying types of shampoos about once a week, because they can remove accumulated hair care products.

For an inexpensive and easy deep-conditioning treatment, follow the steps listed below. Dampen your hair with a spray bottle and massage in a generous portion of your everyday conditioner. Wrap your hair up into a warm towel that is slightly damp. Let it set for between a half and one hour, then shampoo your hair to remove the conditioner and rinse well.

If you use a blow dryer to dry your hair, be sure not to keep it on the same spot for too long. Leaving too much heat in one spot on your head for too long will cause damage. Besides, it won’t help you to dry your entire head of hair.

If you are constantly blow drying your hair or using a hot iron, damage will follow. To protect the follicles on your hair, use a serum or cream prior to using heated products. This will ensure your hair get the protection it needs.

Be aware of which products can damage your hair. Use this information to design a daily care routine for your needs that nourishes and promotes beautiful hair.
