Give Your Hair Some TLC With These Tips

Your hair is one of the first in a list of many things that people will notice about you, so it’s important to have good hair. Unfortunately, not everyone has good hair, which can lead to a less than stellar first impression, visually anyway. This can be changed with hair care tips, like the ones you will find below.

When shampooing your hair, make sure that your hair is completely wet before applying a quarter-sized amount. This minimizes breakage due to tugging and tangling, and it helps the shampoo to effectively cleanse each strand. Do not lather for more than 30 seconds, and rinse with a blast of cool water to seal in moisture.

If you are going to be swimming in a chlorinated pool, you should make sure you wear a cap when swimming to protect it. If you do not have a cap, make sure you wash and condition your hair as soon as possible, afterwards, in order to protect it from the damage that chlorine causes.

Do not style your hair with heated appliances every day. Overusing your curling iron, flat iron, blow dryer, curler or other products can cause fried, frizzy hair. Allow your hair to air-dry as often as possible, and give your hair a break from heated styling tools. If you must use these tools, apply a heat-protective spray or balm to your hair prior to use.

You may be interested in trying a home remedy for dry hair. Wash your hair and wring out most of the water. Then apply conditioner liberally, put on a cap and let it sit for 10 minutes. The shower cap will provide a bit of heat, which helps the conditioner to penetrate your hair.

Keep your terrycloth towels far away from your curly hair. Curls should only be dried with cotton or microfiber towels. Using a terrycloth towel to dry will cause frizz and will pull your curls out of shape. Consider using a old cotton t-shirt or even a paper towel. Be sure as well to blot your hair dry to keep your curls looking spectacular.

Although it is tempting to wash your hair after sweating in the summer, sweat itself isn’t actually that dirty. You can end up washing your hair too often in the summer, turning it dry and brittle. Rather than washing your hair every time you sweat, use just a rinse and conditioner occasionally. This should clean your hair enough between shampoos.

Buy the correct shampoo and conditioner. Only buy the type of shampoo and conditioner that is suitable for your hair type. This isn’t necessarily the most expensive brand! Also, don’t wash it too often or you will strip the natural oils from your hair. A good rule of thumb is every other day for oily or normal hair, and twice weekly for dry hair.

It is important that you use a good conditioner to make your hair stronger and get rid of tangles easily. Apply your conditioner after rinsing the shampoo out of your hair. Make sure that your hair is completely covered and wait a few minutes for the conditioner to soak your hair.

Use two conditioners when you wash your hair. Use one in the shower after rinsing the shampoo out of your hair. The other conditioner is a leave-in conditioner. It should be applied after you are out of the shower and you towel dry your hair. The combination of conditioners will reduce the static in your hair, as well as, leaving it healthy, soft and manageable.

Since your hair is a part of your visual first impression, having good hair is important. If your hair is looking bad, then you will benefit greatly from the tips that were provided. Use them with great care and the next time you make a first impression on someone, you can do it with great hair.
