With the ever-changing trends of fashion, it is important to stay on top of the latest hair styles and trends. Staying on top of your hair lets the world know that you care about your appearance and want to stay trendy. The article below contains ideas to help you care for your hair.

Rather than using conditioner and rinsing it out quickly, take some time to use it in a way that conditions your hair even further. Apply a generous portion of conditioner to your wet hair. Wrap your hair up into a warm towel that is slightly damp. After waiting between a half hour and an hour, rinse out the conditioner by shampooing your hair and rinsing well.

Avoid letting your blow dryer linger in one spot too long, and keep it moving evenly across your hair. That way, serious damage resulting from heat can be prevented.

A soft, satiny pillowcase can protect your curls as you sleep at night. Cotton pillowcases take away your hair’s natural oils, which can cause dryness. Satin pillowcases will protect hair, and let you wake in the morning with similar curls to the ones you slept with. You could also try a satin scarf or sleep bonnet.

Wait two days before shampooing your hair after you have colored it. Your color will be more fade resistant and look better for longer if you allow the cuticle to seal after the color chemicals have been applied. The cuticle will open up again if any water is applied to the hair. If you can be patient, you will be treated with healthy hair.

Work your way from bottom to top while brushing out your hair. Avoid breakage by combing knots out after your hair is dry. Once the knots are out, brush your hair from the top to the ends.

Generally speaking, living in a healthy way will promote healthy hair as well. If you are a smoker, try to stop. If you are living a stressful life, try to calm things down. Make sure to get enough exercise and always drink plenty of water. It might be difficult to believe, but taking these steps can make a huge difference.

Be careful not to strip you hair of all its natural oils when shampooing. Although you might have oily hair, if your shampoo is strong and washes out all of the oil in your hair, this can create a rebound effect in your hair’s oil production. Try to use a very gentle shampoo instead if you can. To be on the safe side, you can forgo the use of shampoo altogether and just use conditioner.

Check the ingredient list, and avoid products with alcohol, as these products often cause dryness. Furthermore, it is best to apply styling products away from the scalp. This prevents buildup and clogged pores. If this happens, it will only lead to your hair looking unhealthy.

Your hair represents who you are as a person. When you keep your hair looking good and groom it well, you represent yourself well. Use the information you have learned to take good care of your hair and show the world you are well managed.
